Why Film Removal & Replacement Is Essential in Gainesville

Gainesville summers push heat indexes past 100°F. Cars at Butler Plaza or UF lots bake for hours.

Old film fails fast under high Florida UV. Bubbles and haze blur your view on I-75 and Archer Road.

Understanding Local Regulations & Choices

Florida sets clear tint limits. Sedans need 28% VLT or higher on front side windows.

Sedan back sides and rear glass may go as low as 15% VLT. SUVs and vans may use 6% VLT on back and rear windows.

Windshield tint is limited to the top five inches. Florida allows a small measurement tolerance, and medical exemptions require state approval.

Your replacement film must meet these limits. Old illegal film is a common reason for removal.

Carbon film has a matte, dark finish. It costs less and does not interfere with signals.

Ceramic film blocks more infrared heat at lighter shades. It suits Gainesville's heat best, even at a legal 28% VLT.

Removal matters as much as the new film. Steam or heat methods lift adhesive without scratching glass.

Skilled technicians protect rear defroster lines. Rushed scraping can break them.
